Apply for the Leadership Academy
What is the Leadership Academy?
The Leadership Academy is a program within the Inclusion Institute that brings leadership training to life through a blend of virtual learning and in-person connection, designed by and for people with disabilities. Rooted in the power of lived experience, the program helps participants discover their voice, build the confidence to speak up, and step boldly into spaces where decisions are made.
Participants explore disability history and the disability rights movement, gaining a deeper understanding of the progress that has shaped today’s opportunities — and the work that still lies ahead. Through storytelling, advocacy skill-building, and civic engagement, they learn that their experiences are not just personal stories, but powerful tools for change.
Graduates leave not only with knowledge and skills, but with confidence, community, and opportunity. Through intentional connections and partnerships, they are introduced to pathways to serve on boards, councils, and committees — ensuring their voices are represented where policies are shaped and decisions are made. They leave ready to lead, influence, and help build a more inclusive future.
We accept applications from eligible residents who have a disability, as well as those who have an interest in disability advocacy and live within our service area who have a disability.
