Director of Philanthropy
The League is seeking a dedicated, hard-working and self-motivated Director of Philanthropy to serve as the organization’s key development leader. This individual works with the President/CEO, the Board of Directors, the Marketing & Resource Development Committee, volunteers, and League staff to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate our strategies and activities designed to meet the League’s philanthropic and marketing goals. The ideal candidate should have a strong work-ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and be motivated to serve our community. Prefer a qualified person with a disability.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As the key development leader, this individual works with the President/CEO, the Board of Directors, the Marketing & Resource Development Committee, volunteers, and League staff to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate our strategies and activities designed to meet the League’s philanthropic and marketing goals.
EXPECTED RESULTS
- Accomplish at least 80% of the annual action items identified in the League’s Resource Development Plan.
- Annual contribution income is no less than 80% of the annual goal.
- Conduct at least two special events per year with total revenue that exceeds event expenses by at least 100%.
QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS and DEMANDS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements below are representative of the skills, knowledge, and/or abilities required. Prefer a qualified person with a disability.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university and four years of successful experience in fundraising and/or sales as a paid professional or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post-secondary education in fundraising preferred.
Independent Living – Senior Blind Services
Rehabilitation Teacher
The Independent Living division of The League is seeking a dedicated, hard-working and self-motivated Rehabilitation Teacher (or Orientation & Mobility Specialist) to assist with independent living activities, individual advocacy, peer counseling and case coordination services for older individuals who are blind or low vision who live in North Central Indiana (Elkhart, Marshall, Kosciusko, St. Joe and LaPorte counties). The ideal candidate should have a strong work-ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and be motivated to serve our community. Prefer a qualified person with a disability.
Essential Duties/Skills/Responsibilities/Qualifications
• Conducts initial assessment to determine consumer’s individual needs, assisting consumer in developing initial, intermediate and long-range goals, tracking and monitoring progress.
• Conducts low vision evaluations, establishing needs for daily living and adaptive aids, devises & equipment training.
• Offers information and referral (I&R) services.
• Participates in individual and systems advocacy.
• Provides individual peer support.
• Represents the League at community health fairs, conducting public education, awareness and outreach activities.
• Provides community organizations with training related to vision loss issues in older adults.
• Maintains accurate, up to date consumer files, community activities and I&R contacts according to procedures.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Rehabilitation Teaching or Orientation & Mobility or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a qualified person with a disability and/or an individual 55 years old or older (preference as identified by state funding source).
